SMS is an external matrix solver software used to extract eigenvalues and eigenvectors extremely fast compared with traditional solvers like Lanczos.

GENESIS

Finite element solver and Optimization Software is a fully integrated analysis and design optimization software package

  • Supports static, normal modes, direct and modal frequency analysis, random response analysis, heat transfer and system buckling calculations
  • Structural optimization types include:
  • Topology: Design variables are element densities. Allows to carve out the less essential elements on a package space
  • Shape: Grid (node) locations are the design variables
  • Sizing: Design variables are element cross-sectional dimensions
  • Topometry: Element by element sizing optimization
  • Topography: Topography optimization is a special case of shape optimization. Allows to generate beads
  • Freedom: Grid by grid shape optimization. Allows to generate ribs
  • Composite: Thickness, angles and shape variables
  • Supports multi-model optimization (MMO) and reliability-based optimization (RBO)
  • Supports Additive Manufacturing: GENESIS topology optimization is for Additive Manufacturing. GENESIS can generate optimal shapes and together with Design Studio, the user can automatically generate lattice structures that can be manufactured with 3D printing

GTAM – Topology for ANSYS // GSAM – Structural Optimization for ANSYS

  • Integrated extension that adds topology optimization and/or structural optimization to the ANSYS® environment
  • Can perform topology optimization as well as topography, freeform, sizing and topometry design
  • Additive Manufacturing –GSAM/GTAM can generate optimal shapes that can be produced using 3D printers.
  • GTAM is a subset of GSAM limited to topology optimization only.

 

 

SMS Fast Eigen Solver

  • External matrix solver software used to extract eigenvalues and eigenvectors extremely fast compared with a traditional solver like Lanczos.
  • Plug-in for MSC.NASTRAN (from MSC.Software) that uses SMS to solve the eigenproblem for solution sequences 103, 111, 112 and 200.

ESLDYNA

  • Couples GENESIS optimization to the LS-DYNA® which is a general-purpose finite element program capable of simulating highly nonlinear, transient dynamic problems
  • Based on the Equivalent Static Loads (ESL) method which takes advantage of the capability of GENESIS to solve large scale optimization problems based on the responses from a nonlinear finite element analysis
  • Reduces the design time by identifying high performance designs with five to ten nonlinear analyses
